Think salsa and you immediately
think of a vibrant medley of flavours, textures & sensations . . .

Spicy, crisp, juicy, sweet, zesty ...bursting at the seams with all the colour & personality like any good salsa would.

Well, we’re all about the zing & zest of a good Salsa ...with a bit of Verde for balance.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Diya is a Sydney based designer with a global perspective & the CREATive mind behind salsa verde.

Diya is Salsa Verde’s resident artist & exuberant colour + pattern enthusiast. Her love affair with colour and pattern began at the tender age of three, thanks to a box of Crayola crayons and a mini orange kaleidoscope.

Born in India and raised in Belgium, India, Nepal and Germany, Diya’s work reflects her love and passion for colour, culture, art and our universal human desire for connection. These values form the foundation of Salsa Verde’s philosophy and core aesthetic.

Diya graduated with a Bachelor of Design, specialising in Graphic and Textile Design from the University of New South Wales. Prior to establishing Salsa Verde Design, she worked in fashion, carpet tile manufacturing and advertising. She has experienced commercial success early on in her career,
which includes designing rug concepts exclusively for Designer Rugs and Tappeti, numerous book covers as well as being featured in Design Quarterly Magazine.

A mixed media graphic artist + surface designer, her work begins with hand-drawn sketches, paintings and mark-makings, which are then digitised to create Salsa Verde’s signature vibrant print and pattern collections.

Her work is inspired not only by the rich and vibrant cultural and textile heritage of her first home, India, but also from nature, travel and experiencing diverse cultures, language and ways of life from an early age.

Salsa Verde encapsulates my rich, vivid life experiences, my multicultural upbringing and the diversity and complexity of people, places and cultures that have shaped who I am as an artist, designer and human being. Verde symbolizes roots and how we innately gravitate towards balance. It represents our values and our moral compass, keeping us grounded and true to who we are.
