Zeenya Clothing is a New Zealand based colour-loving activewear brand designed to celebrate women of all shapes and sizes. Collaborating with Zeenya as part of their first ever Artist Collection in 2021, was nothing short of a match made in technicolour heaven! They say good things take time and man, oh man was this collaboration a long time in the making but well worth the wait!

It’s not often I come across a brand that unequivocally embraces colour and pattern much in the way I do. Then, in mid 2018, I met Chloe, co-founder and Head of Colour at Zeenya. And the rest as they say is history!

Bonding over our mutual adoration of maximalist prints, wild bursts of colour and a core belief that both had the power to bring joy and hope to the world, Chloe and I knew a collaboration was only a matter of time.

Then, in 2020, COVID happened and for a while, the future looked bleak and uncertain. The only way out was through. And the only way through was by doing what we did best — dreaming, creating, collaborating, connecting, sparking joy, bringing hope. And if all else failed, bringing people a welcome distraction in an otherwise dark and chaotic time.

And so Zeenya’s Artist Collection was born.

That’s how I’d sum up the collection. But I think the images and final products speak for themselves, don’t you?

Sharing the space alongside two incredible New Zealand artists — Otis Frizzell and Steve Maddock, I was honoured to introduce our print ‘Carnival’ to the collection.

Inspired by my love of Spring, this print was designed to bring joy to the wearer. With its soothing blue hues, rejuvenating bursts of green, soft pastel pink and warm notes of mustard and orange, it was all about capturing the energy and life that Spring time brings and the hope of good things to come.

A blend of photographic imagery and watercolour textures, Carnival captures the beauty and sentiment of Spring - a sacred time of renewal and hope. Diya Dasgupta draws her inspiration from travel, nature, spirituality and total love of colour. She hopes the soft textures and vibrant colours in this print will bring a touch of calm to the wearer.
